Right now, I'm just kinda feeling really shitty.... It's just a kind of sudden feeling. Mixed together with anxiety, worries and sadness....
Here's what happened chronologically:
1. My Godpa is in hospital. Had an emergency op to remove his inflamed gall bladder. Visited him during my lunch time. The slowness and weakness in his walk made me feel a tinge of sadness. But luckily, he looked fine. Get well soon Godpa.
2. My laptop bag dropped (with my laptop inside) when I was just about to leave my workplace for home. At first, I thought it would be fine, because it was in my laptop bag (with all the supposed protection it needs). However, when I turned it on, it couldn't detect the OS of my com. Luckily, I inspected the back of my laptop and realised a loose part, so I pushed it in to try my luck. Thank goodness my com is up and running! Hope there's no side effects though. Oh, but my battery became more chui.... (in terms of physical appearance)
3. My parents just received a call from my cousin that my uncle passed away.... This is going to be the fourth death of someone I know since I came back from the States. First, it was my neighbour, someone whom I grew up calling gu ma. Second was my grandaunt, not that close to me, but still related. Third was a friend from NPCC, just a 21-year-old. And finally, my uncle, my eldest aunt's husband. I used to visit their Holland V house since young. Both my aunt and uncle are getting older and weaker, but never expected this at all....
Update: Mum just reminded me that her cousin passed away about 3 weeks ago too. So that brings the total number of people who passed away since I'm back to 5....
Gosh. Feeling so sian now....

As promised, here's my Wheel of Food Locations! I am so very proud of it! =)
The prototype
The final product
With 'accessories' hand drawn by my fellow intern
Just in case you were wondering how I'm getting along, this week has been pretty good. I see my learning curve travelling upwards currently, with me doing some preparations of samples, dilutions and running Liquid Chromatography on my diluted samples. It may sound boring to you, but at least, I finally got some hands-on with my project. But sadly, my supervisor is changing department to the Cosmetics side and she said I am following her, meaning my job scope might change.
My supervisor is very interestingly cute. Somehow, when I speak to her, I think that my Chinese is super lousy. Too much mix of an English in it. Yesterday, she said that she feels like she is going to get fever, and I replied, "你要 take care." Today, before I left, my sample was still sitting on the machine waiting to be analysed, so I wanted to ask her whether I should take it out. I said, "Then 要不要 take out 那些 vials?" She gave me the am chio (half-smile) face and said no need. My fellow interns who heard me just LOL-ed in my face.... Oh gosh, I better go improve my chinese before I throw Singaporeans' faces....

Yesterday, before I left my workplace, I went to my supervisor's office to pass her something from me thumb drive.
Just when I was about to leave, she said to me in chinese, "Oh, tomorrow I'm going for a conference. So you can either read journals or...... fold filter paper."
I am very guai, so I folded filter paper from 8.45am to 12noon.... :S
Queued for Koi for 45mins with my fellow interns (about 10 of us from NTU and NUS) during lunch.
Everyday, we would all have difficulties choosing our lunch location. Most of the time, we would just stand in the lobby and ask each other: Errrr so what are we having for lunch today?
Since there was no one to supervise me today (plus very little work for my fellow Cosmetics lab interns), we invented a lunch location Wheel of Fortune! I am very proud of our new invention. This proves that we are really SCIENTISTS! We come up with new things. There was even a prototype and a final product.
I should start selling the Wheel of Fortune to other HSA colleagues. By the way, it really spins! Will post up the photo tomorrow.
If you wanna buy, can contact me. It is customisable. ;)
