Wow, I'm going back to Pulau NTU for lessons after one year of non-schooling...It's kind of an interesting feeling. A little warm, a little fuzzy, a little sour, a little sad.
But something just sort of cheered me up. Haha, my mentor is sick and won't be in school tomorrow, so I don't have to go into lab! Woohoo! Now I can consider doing some New Year shopping and going into town to redeem a book with the $20 voucher I have from Borders which will be expiring on 31st January.
I think the eve of the first day of school (and it is the last first day of semester as an undergrad!) has been a pretty good one.
Firstly, let's talk about the eve of the eve of the first day of school. It started off pretty badly with the disgusting jam which caused me to be 20mins late for Novena (and Novena is like only 30 mins!). Irritated I was! But the day became better with a movie (Solomon Kane). I never thought I would like this kind of fighting and war-ish and killing movies, but I think I have grown to accept them. If I continue watching more, which obviously is going to happen, I might even grow to have a tendency for them. Who knows. Right now, I am still in love with rom coms (romantic comedies), but I realised that some of these can fall really flat, especially if they are like the second or third or fourth sequel. Nevertheless, when the directors get it right and hit the bullseye, they can turn out fantastic!
Ok, back to the eve of the eve of the first day of school. In the evening, met up with Ade to get Hil and Van's cakes plus little presents of encouragement. And it was off to Peperoni Pizzeria to eat our humongous XXL pizza. I still can't believe that the waitress kept advising us not to take that and order the new truffle pasta (which Hilda thought was chocolate, btw). I always love the camaraderie we share. Can you imagine, we've been friends for 10 years! 10 whole years. Been through ups and downs, but there's always laughter and joy whenever we get together. Love you kampong buddies! :) I am so excited for our trip. I think it really doesn't matter where we go. It's the company that matters!
And then today came. I was seriously stressing over my catechism class today. I had no idea how to teach the topic: Jesus as a young person. There's only one gospel in the bible which mentions Jesus as a teenager and even then, it is limited to a few verses/sentences. Very glad that the lesson went well today with the help of my fellow catechist Henry. He pointed out that the session was a good one as well. With God, you can really do all things. :) Friday, I attended morning Mass at CJC and the first reading really struck me as well:
"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” - 1 Corinthians 1:27
How amazing, how awesome. Such strength a bible verse can bring to me.
Mum was kinda cute today. Just gave her a little cash to spend for CNY and she acted (I emphasis this, ACTED) so paiseh. Didn't wanna accept, didn't wanna accept, then in the end smile smile smile. I think it is really true that when you see your loved ones happy, you are happy too. :)
Signing off now. To bask in this warmth before the misery of school term starts for one last time...

Nice numbers days. Nice to spend such a wonderfully numbered day with a wonderful friend. I always love to meet my pri sch bestie! Imagine that. We've known each other for a long 11 years! Yes this is the 12th year since we first met each other. I really love our meetings. It's so rare and hard for us to meet each other, but everytime we meet each other, there's no lack of topics at all!
Ok, so my bestie is going to get married on 18 December 2011! That's in about 11 months time. It's crazy right?! 23 years old. My first close friend who is getting married! She requested for me to be her bridesmaid! :) Of course I agreed! No doubts about it, no hesitation! Am looking forward to her wedding! Please be xing fu, bestie! :)
